Abstract:

From the classical ns2 simulator to the recent PAWR testbeds, experimental platforms have been a driving force behind networking research in the past two decades. The programmability of emerging communication/computing hardware and network stack further enables mid-scale infrastructures to support cutting-edge experimental research. This panel convenes experts from diverse topic areas within communication and networking, who have successfully led the development of mid-scale research infrastructures with national/global impacts. The panelists will share their experiences in organizing the platform development and sustaining long term operations. The panel will further explore ways of engaging the broader research community and supporting forward-looking research projects. Finally, the panel will envision future research infrastructures that can stimulate breakthrough innovations and advance networking research to the next level.
